Welsh mythology is full of weird and wonderful creatures. From dragons and lions living amongst the heroes of King Arthur’s round table, to mythological monsters, like giants and elves, that terrorised kingdoms and brought untold misery to the masses, the legendary Welsh creatures are amongst some of the most interesting in Great Britain.

The Dragon is the mythical creature most famously associated with Wales, mainly for one very good reason – our entire flag is a dragon!
There have been a number of dragons featured in various Welsh tales, most notably the white and red dragons of Merlin’s first appearance alongside King Vortigen in the Historia Brittonum.
While dragons are not exclusive to Welsh culture, they do play a big part in the mythology of the country. A number of dragon’s have present in various stories, including the tales of King Arthur, with varying roles to play.
